BUCK OWENS 1929-2006 R.I.P

I am just getting to writing this Blog. I didn’t want to be like many who jumped at the chance to claim thier association with a man who meant so much to me . Out of respect I held on to my memories I had with Buck until now.  These times I will cherish my whole life. I recall talking with him about the old times and music in general . His sense of humor was very sharp. He made me laugh so hard. Alot of  it went over peoples heads. That made it that much more funnier.

I’ll always be honored that he let me play there in his house for almost 8 years. He would  encourage me and thank me for working hard and doing a good job for him. He once told me “If i had my label like I did in the 70′s I would sign you in a heartbeat” All these things meant alot to me . Please understand I am not bragging or boasting I am just proud to have known him.  I learned how to entertain people by going to the Buck Owens Crystal Palace for the first time some years earlier. Something happened in me when I saw how real Buck was with the people.

That night we had a show across town. It was our first big headlining  show at this venue. We got called out for two encores that night it was one of the best shows we ever had. You know why ? The spirit of Buck Owens was in me. I never got the chance to tell Buck that all the good work he praised us for was beacuse of him. So now I say thank you Buck your spirit will live in me forever.
